Libra Sun and Cancer Moon
Subtle but deeply meaningful, this representative of a Cardinal square, Libra Sun and Cancer Moon, means to be taken seriously. These souls feel much and are eager to align with you and feel for you; they breathe most free in moments of catharsis. However, their boundaries are firm, much firmer than most Libras get to feel. The air signs tend to not be so great at throwing up those boundaries; they blend, even dissolve into other people’s viewpoints and ideas, and just as naturally ricochet to the other side and can ghost those they were only a moment ago supporting. Libra, always naturally concerned with what others think, and tending to be a little stiff and formal in ideology becomes almost a pedagogue with the Cancer Moon. The aspect of square between Sun and Moon is one of such tension that on the somatic level the person very rarely completely relaxes. He or she is not so deeply satisfied by the flow of things which seems to reward in lessons as much as in prizes in this life. What the person desires always brings them back a mixed bag—for the Square sign tend to belie such a deep contradictory subconscious that the person is slow to learn how to move, and does so through deeply cutting trial and error. They become stoic, wary, and wise through the lacerations of loss. These types are capable of enduring much that is uncomfortable on their way towards whatever they’ve set their hearts on. Of course Cancer is the natural sign of the Moon, so this ‘Light’ of the personality has a great well of stillness to draw from, a basic tranquility, a kind of complacency, that they are born with. Cancer Moon people are naturally empathetic and deep feelers. They tend to be self-protecting, however, and not so keen to share their feelings and hearts unless they sense they are in good hands, very safe… this person is so protective of their inner world, their inner family circle, and their home spaces that they can come off as uninviting or, as previously mentioned, cold in their boundaries, capable of stonewalling others because of an innate, subtle fear. Cancer Moon people do not want to compromise what is most valuable to them, but Libra is a sign that is willing to stand cold before many eyes and various tongues, and so the person always moves as if their whole lives, their living sanity, is at stake. The Libra personality is bristling to scale walls in order to reach understanding with those they are drawn to, and becomes so highly opinionated that they might override their own moral codes in the heat of a moment. Much self-criticism and despair can result from this. Also such a shock that the person may need to immediately withdraw. With many steps forward and back again, this person’s slow path generally forms them into a leader in their community, relied upon to have a sober but human viewpoint. They are not greatly expressive in the face, between the deep-lying, self-protected Cancer Moon and the overtly indecisive Libran exterior. But their true feelings are shown almost always through action. Thus they mean what they do, they would not do it otherwise. Perhaps, the indecisiveness of Libra is even rather helped by the blunt intuitive nature of the Cancer Moon which tends to bring up out of its murkiness one response and one response only. The person may sometimes confound others—initially, through the Libra nature, seeming open-minded and perhaps flexible, but underneath actually rarely conceding, and a moment’s reflection alone tends to be enough to tell them their true feelings. In love they are not greatly adventurous, but loyal to the core, and the formalities, the social standing of partnership means much to them. Slow moving, gaunt like a long-living giant, I am thinking here of my uncle who became the patriarch of our family once my grandfather died, who was never tempted in any way to compromise his security or the decency deserved by his family. Never a man of impulse, but one of deeply engraved thought. He was often with my aunt, who did all the talking, while he would sometimes smirk behind her. All of his good actions tended to be clandestine. When they went anywhere he always drove, and preferred his motorcycle, whose speed and sureness seemed to calm him.
